Synektik Group to roboticize microsurgery in Central Europe

The listed supplier of advanced medical solutions has signed a cooperation agreement with Medical Microinstruments (MMI), an American manufacturer of innovative robotic solutions for microsurgery.

Pursuant to this agreement the Synektik Group will become the sole distributor of Symani robotic systems for microsurgery in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The partnership with MMI marks the next stage in bolstering the Synektik Group’s leading position as a distributor of robotic medical systems in the region.

According to the contract the Synektik Group is responsible for the sales and maintenance of robotic systems, the sales of instruments used in these systems and training system operators. This contract will be in force for a period of 3 years with an option to extend for another 3 years.

Male and female patients with lymphatic swelling, reconstruction needs following a radical mastectomy, limb injuries and the ensuing reconstruction needs and head and neck cancer will in the future be able to take advantage of the capabilities the Symani robotic system offers. The range of applications also includes microsurgery for the youngest of patients.

The Symani robot is the first robotic system of this type used to conduct microsurgical and super microsurgical procedures around blood vessels, nerves and lymphatic vessels. It has the world’s smallest 3-millimeter wristed microinstruments with tremor-reducing and motion-scaling technologies. It enables surgeons to conduct procedures in small and delicate anatomical structures at the micro and supermicro levels in a comfortable sitting position. The Symani system can slow its operator’s hand movements by 20 times thereby eliminating even minimal vibrations in his or her hands.

The partnership with Medical Microinstruments is aligned to our firm’s mission and its long-term growth strategy, whose principal tenet is to act to enhance access to the newest technologies in health care in Poland and across the region. Symani systems are introducing new quality in microsurgery enabling the surgeons who used them to perform exceptionally precise procedures, while significantly reducing the risk of error in these high precision procedures. Male and female patients with lymphatic swelling, reconstruction needs following a radical mastectomy, limb injuries and the ensuing reconstruction needs and head and neck cancer will in the future be able to take advantage of the capabilities the Symani robotic system offers. The range of applications also includes microsurgery for the youngest of patients”, says Cezary Kozanecki, founder and CEO of Synektik.

Symani robots will constitute an important extension to the Synektik Group’s offering in medical robotics. The Group is listed on the stock exchange and is the sole distributor of da Vinci surgical robotics systems in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia where at present more than 11 thousand surgical procedures are performed every year using approximately 80 robots. Synektik is also the distributor of ZAP-X robotic systems for radiosurgery and robotic solutions for hospital pharmacies.

“The Symani system is undoubtedly an exceptional solution. What’s important to us business-wise is that this product is used in different areas from where the da Vinci system is applied. I profoundly believe that by combining the unique offering of Medical Microinstruments with our skills in implementing technologically advanced solutions in medical care, we will expand access for Central European patients to therapy utilizing innovative solutions and we will augment the efficacy of their treatment”, adds Cezary Kozanecki.
