Da Vinci robotic surgery

Robotic systems for minimally invasive surgery, used among others, in urology, gynaecology and general surgery.

About robotic system

What is da Vinci?

Da Vinci system is an advanced robotic system used to perform minimally invasive surgery in the areas of urology, gynaecology and general surgery, among others. It is characterized by exceptional precision and low invasiveness of procedures, resulting in high efficiency of operations and significant reduction of the risk of postoperative complications.

Proven effectiveness

Da Vinci robotic systems mean more effective surgeries

About 200 types of surgical procedures are currently being performed using da Vinci robotic system. These are primarily uterine surgery, prostatectomy (removal of prostate) and colon resection, but also bladder, kidney, pancreas, lung, head or heart procedures.

More than 16 million surgical procedures assisted by da Vinci system – nearly 10,200 da Vinci surgical systems are installed all over the world.

Producer

Da Vinci system is manufactured by Intuitive Surgical

The producer has been successively developing this technology for more than 27 years, and the X and Xi models available on the market are already the fourth generation of the robot. The experience gained from many years of working with the system and thousands of implementations determines the choice of the world’s best centers, where surgical procedures using da Vinci are carried out.

  • The robotic surgery system consists of three components:

    • Surgeon console
    • Patient cart
    • Vision cart
  • Da Vinci solutions allow for a real leap in quality in the treatment of many conditions, such as prostate cancer. Thanks to it, Polish patients, who until now often opted for treatment in foreign centers, can also receive da Vinci technology-supported medical care at the highest level at home.

In practice, this corresponds to shorter hospitalization period and, consequently, savings at the health care level. A patient operated with the help of the robot, requires the use of fewer drugs and blood for transfusions, frees up the hospital bed faster and returns to daily life.

    1. The basis of the collaboration is building a robotics program at the hospital. It is based on more than 25 years of experience and a large number of proctors and sites where we can observe procedures with doctors. We guarantee clinical team support for surgeons. Multistage training after which doctors receive an international manufacturer’s certificate from Intuitive Surgery, guaranteeing proficiency with the da Vinci robot.
    2. More than 25 years of experience building and using the robot in nearly 9,539 hospitals around the world makes it a highly refined product.
    3. The range of offer currently includes three different devices, which allows for optimal selection according to the scope of clinical use. Both systems are versatile and can be applied to more than 200 validated procedures in many clinical areas.
    4. From years of experience, the design of gathering the arms on one column gives the most space for the operating team around the patient.
    5. Da Vinci weight guarantees the safety and stability of the device, and the built-in mobile system allows easy relocation.
    6. Tools optimally selected:
    • The length of da Vinci tools makes it possible to operate in hard-to-reach parts of the body and even on very obese patients.
    • The diameter of the cannula has changed over the years and the current one, which is the effect of more than 16 million procedures performed worldwide, is the most optimal for both adult and pediatric surgeries.
  • Da Vinci minimally invasive robotic surgery system is a tool in the hands of the surgeon (just like a traditional scalpel or laparoscope) to perform surgery. The final decision on the choice of surgical method (classical, minimally invasive laparoscopic, minimally invasive robotic) depends on the patient’s condition, age, medical indications and is made by the doctor.

Any surgery, performed by any method, including da Vinci system, raises risks for the patient and can lead to serious complications or even death. Full risk information is available on the producer’s website:  www.intuitive.com/safety.

Safe da Vinci robotic surgery system

High quality and guarantees can only be obtained by using products bought from legitimate sources. This rule applies to every aspect of our lives, both as consumers and patients. Even more so when we are a patient, and our health and lives depend on the quality of the procedures performed and the reliability of the equipment used in them.
Therefore, we would like to draw attention to this important issue and explain the consequences of using devices that are not purchased from a distributor authorized by the producer.

Da Vinci worldwide

The system was first introduced to the market in 1999 and has been continuously improved since then, increasing the efficiency of the procedures carried out using it, as well as the comfort and intuitiveness of use.
