Reducing treatment time
The technology used makes it possible to reduce the duration of full therapy against traditional methods from several weeks to 30 minutes.
Intraoperative radiotherapy allows us to perform surgery and apply radiation therapy and irradiate the tumor locus in a single day. With Zeiss INTRABEAM one-day targeted intraoperative radiotherapy, we deliver the highest radiation dose within 2 cm of the tumor excision site, minimizing the risk of local tumor recurrence, since the excised tumor locus is the most common site of recurrence.

Information for patients
IORT from ZEISS enables an effective high-dose cancer treatment option, delivered directly during surgery and precisely where it is needed. Local irradiation of the tumor or the tumor bed can be prescribed as a single definitive treatment, or as a boost treatment combined with external beam radiotherapy for high-risk patients.
Thirty-minute treatment
The perfectly balanced suspension system allows the applicator to be smoothly adjusted and held in any position with the utmost precision. Irradiation takes thirty minutes as standard, depending on the size of the applicator and the radiation dose due. Patients with brain tumors can be treated with stereotactically administered irradiation via a special head that is ready for use after mounting on a stereotactic frame.
