Angiodroid – CO2 injector

The CO2 Angiodroid injector is an automatic digital injector used in interventional radiology, vascular surgery and interventional cardiology.

Angiodroid® Injector

Carbon dioxide (CO₂) dosing

The CO2 Angiodroid injector makes it possible to dose carbon dioxide (CO2) using specific volumes and at a designated pressure and pump gas into vascular cavities. CO2 acts as a contrast agent in an angiographic exam, thereby contributing to substantial benefits and a very low percentage of complications compared to the traditional means used for vascular imaging.

Angiographic diagnostics aim to investigate and demonstrate the structural presences of irregularities within the range of the vascular cavity in question. This technique is widely used in patients with nephropathy and diabetes on account of the particularly high spatial resolution and diagnostic accuracy.

Safety and efficacy

Vascular diagnostics

For a diagnostic image to be precise, the CO2 must precipitate the displacement of blood into the vessel undergoing a test. Higher quality and a more accurate image are obtained by using a greater quantity. These special attributes make CO2 a safe and effective contrast agent in vascular diagnostics:

  • it does not cause an allergic reaction (contrast intolerance),
  • it is not nephrotoxic (it does not affect renal function),
  • it supports the application of smaller catheters,
  • it is rapidly eliminated via the lungs,
  • it attenuates or eliminates patient discomfort.
Device attributes

CO₂ Angiodroid Injector

Uniqueness of the system

The CO₂ Angiodroid Injector is the only device entailing a computer system that makes it possible to control all injection-related aspects ranging from patient safety to setting the injection parameters. This system consists of a CO₂ cylinder tank connected to an internal pneumatic closed circuit in which the CO₂ circulates through various pneumatic sectors. The system terminates with an opening to facilitate connection to a catheter.

Fast and simple to use

The system’s key attributes are the speed and simplicity of deploying an injection. The operator must merely introduce the desired injection volume and pressure via the device’s simple touch screen. The CO2 Angiodroid requires only these two parameters for the system to load automatically the CO2 dosage ready to be injected into the blood vessels. The external LED diodes, which are also visible from a certain distance, supply clear information concerning injection status, thereby making it possible to identify the phase of CO2 loading correctly or the option of commencing an injection.

Easy and direct connection to a catheter

This system is outfitted with an end valve to which one can easily connect a disposable adapter for any patient (with an antibacterial filter). Its endpoint is a connector equipped with an anti-reflux valve (preventing airborne contamination). It can be connected to any type of catheter.

Ability to perform procedures on a recurring basis

This digital system allows the operator to perform an injection procedure on a recurring basis while preserving identical parameters. The re-loading process is very fast: loading the system and preparing it to perform another injection takes a mere 30 seconds.

Preventing airborne contamination

This system provides for a high level of reliability in preventing airborne contamination.

It has been designed to facilitate the following:

  • Low-volume injections
  • Low-pressure injections

These attributes provide for patients’ injection comfort and a better catheter flow, thereby augmenting the quality of the radiological image.
